I totally forgot about these photos, my bad! Angelina Jolie was seen at the Directors Guild of America Theater in LA last Friday. Note her “business sack” look – this is her professional sack-wear. And I kind of love it. She looks awesome. She should wear black turtlenecks/cowl-necks more often.
Jolie was attending a screening and a Q&A session, which was likely part of her Oscar campaign. There’s some debate going on about Angelina’s influence in Hollywood, whether she can really campaign for an Oscar – for Best Foreign Film, no less – without Brad’s influence. My take is that she totally could wage an Oscar campaign on her own… in theory. Like, if she was campaigning for an Oscar for acting in a prestigious film, she could totally make that happen. But it’s trickier with Jolie-as-director and I think she knows that. Which is why she seems to be playing it by the book so far.
Netflix also cut another trailer for First They Killed My Father. This one is visceral.
So, what else is going on with Angelina? I don’t know. There are two tabloid-y stories circulating about her, both of which are very negative. Gossip Cop debunked one of the stories, the one about how Angelina is feeling more peaceful a year after she filed for divorce, and that she’s “re-adjusting to single life.” Gossip Cop says the original story, from Hollywood Life, is trash. In Touch Weekly also has a story about Angelina “losing control” of the children, because they are wild and live without rules. I don’t know… considering how much we saw of the kids in Toronto, this one just doesn’t fly? The kids seem fine. They seem to adore their mom. Which is possibly the point of the ITW story – Brad is the “hero” because he wants to swoop in and make all of these demands about how the kids should be raised. He didn’t have a big issue with their peripatetic lifestyle when Brangelina was happening. Why is he complaining now? Because the kids don’t want to spend time with him?
