Rosario Dawson is in need of your thoughts and prayers.
The actress woke up in her Venice home last Thursday and came upon the unconscious body of her 26-year old cousin, Vaneza Ines Vasquez.
According to TMZ, Dawson immediately called 911, but it was too late by the time paramedics arrived at her house.
They were unable to revive Vasquez and she was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Vasquez reportedly worked for Dawson and had recently been suffering from migraines. She also had a history of hypertension.
As of this writing, a toxicology report is pending, but an early autopsy report indicates that her death was likely due to natural causes.
Vasquez’s mother, Lisa Centeno, paid tribute to her late daughter in a moving Facebook post not long after the tragic news broke.
“Vaneza, my sweet, sweet beautiful baby – your passing has left me destroyed forever but I know you are at peace in Paradise,” Centeno wrote.
Along with the photo below, she added:
“I love you, my alpha child.”
Centeno also explained what is happening in the above picture as follows:
“This is when Danny broke down and Yoselynn held him. Then several of us walked over to huddle.
“I threw the blanket over us, creating a fortress to shield us from the strong winds and provide a more intimate experience as we mourned together in the very place Vaneza was the most at peace.”
Dawson herself is yet to comment on the tragedy.
The actress will be appearing in the much-anticipated Netflix series The Defender later this year, where she will reprise her role as Claire Temple.
She also took on that part in Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cake and Iron Fist.
Our condolences go out to Dawson and all members of her family who have been touched by this unexpected passing.
