1. Lorde was so worried she wouldn’t make an album as good as her debut Pure Heroine, that producer Jack Antonoff sent her back to New Zealand.
2. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Lorde talked about the pressures of creating her second album Melodrama, and how she freaked out and had to get out of the studio.
“There was a real hit of, like, ‘I just don’t have another one’,” Lorde said in the interview. One freakout was so bad that she was told to get out of the studio and go home for a month to gather her thoughts.
3. And being sent home worked for the 20-year-old pop star.
“Everything written about on the album, give or take a couple of lines, all took place in New Zealand, is about me and my friends,” she told Rolling Stone.
4. Lorde’s described her new album as “listening to a young woman”.
”[Pure Heroine] felt like a kid,” she said. “This feels like a young woman. I can hear the difference.”
5.Melodrama is due for release June 16.
